Description
This stone engraved and hand colored map was originally published and mounted on rollers as a wall map. Our print copy received extensive conservation work and was removed from the rollers in 1913, before the map was purchased by the Sheridan Libraries. Unfortunately, before the conservation work, the map experienced a good deal of content loss along the upper two to three inches. The map itself is complete but much of the title information is missing. Along the bottom margin the map is simply dated “185_” with the last digit left open. Our use of the date 1854 comes from another original print held by the British Library (OCLC 556499896). We know of no other original copies. The Maryland Historical Society Library has a poor quality photocopy of this map on two sheets.
