Abstract
The origin of the saying, “The journey is the reward,” is up for debate. Some say it’s a Taoist proverb, while Google seems to think Steve Jobs said it first. I first heard the quote while working as an environmental educator, years before I began my journey as a science writer. But those five words became my mantra as I embarked on this new career path. The Journey is a collection of stories that represents not only my journey from novice to master writer but also the collective journeys of humans and life on our planet. It chronicles the small moments of joy and suffering, triumph and struggle, loss and acquisition along life’s journey.
