Abstract
Until a few years ago I didn’t think had the ability or desire to draft a story less than 70,000 words in length. The linear novel was my playground and I stayed there until my education at The Johns Hopkins forced my hand into writing short stories. Now, I find myself fighting the urge to force brevity for the love of the short story or to draw the tale out with plenty of exposition. The following is a collection of short stories that range from the brief to the near novella length and are a showcase of how much my education has transformed my writing.
