Aerial Photography - Baltimore (1924-1925, 1927, 1937-1938, 1948, 1952-1953, 1957, 1964, 1972)

This collection includes sets of downloadable JPEG and TIFF or JP2000 images of aerial photography. For 1937-1938 and 1952-1953, the images were produced from 9" x 9” print aerial photographs of Baltimore City and Baltimore County. The original print photographs can be found at the Maryland Geological Survey (MGS). This scanning project was a joint initiative of the MGS and the Eisenhower Library. As the MGS collection of 1937-1938 aerial photography is incomplete, we acquiring supplemental images from National Archives and Records Administration to fill in the missing gaps.

The photography was originally produced for the United States Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) for use in crop and farm acreage analysis. ASCS contracted for aerial flights on five to ten year intervals for those counties with a predominate economic base in agriculture.

The 1964 Baltimore City aerial photography was produced from oversize, mylar based, images held by the Baltimore City Department of Planning.
